The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Michael Polley, today announced more than $57,000 for two major sport and recreation projects at Campbell Town.

Mr Polley presented $22,300 to the Northern Midlands Council for the Campbell Town swimming pool and $35,000 to the Campbell Town Tennis Club.

“The funding for the swimming pool will assist the council install solar heating for the pool, and the funding for the tennis club will allow it to rebuild a tennis court.

“Both projects are being funded by the State Government’s 2007-08 Sport and Recreation Major Grants Program.”

Mr Polley said projects that improved rural sport and recreation facilities were of critical importance to their towns and the communities they serviced.

“Having access to quality facilities encourages people to participate not only in an active lifestyle, but to participate fully in their community.

“I’m confident that both these projects will provide a significant benefit to the users of both the swimming pool and the tennis club in Campbell Town and will be enjoyed by many well into the future,” Mr Polley said.
