Last chance for clubs to win sporting dough!
Top Sports nominations close on 20th August 2008
In sport they say you’ve got to be in it to win it, which is why Bakers Delight is encouraging grassroots sporting clubs across the country to get their skates on and ensure they’re in the running for a Top Sports Club Grant before nominations close on Wednesday 20th August 2008. Bakers Delight’s Top Sports Club Grants program offers amateur sporting clubs across Australia the opportunity to win one of 60 cash grants worth $2,500 each, and is part of a broader initiative which will see Bakers Delight invest $250,000 in grassroots sports by the end of the year.
Since the Top Sports Grants initiative kicked off on 24th July, Olympic fever has gripped the nation, and Bakers Delight has received a flood of nominations from clubs hoping to win funding to help develop Australia’s next generation of Olympians. Chris Caldwell, General Manager of Marketing for Bakers Delight said the bakery franchise is aware that outside funding is crucial for grassroots clubs, and hopes that many will take advantage of the opportunity to win a Top Sports Club Grant.
“Nominations close on 20th August, so we want to make sure sporting clubs across the country get their nominations in before the deadline, to be in with a chance to win much needed funding. “Bakers Delight bakeries are passionate about promoting health in their local community; these grants will also go a long way towards helping local sporting clubs to nurture our next generation of sporting talent,” said Chris. To nominate a sporting club, visit any of the 630 Bakers Delight bakeries across Australia, purchase a savoury scroll and fill out a nomination form for a $2,500 cash grant. The more nominations a club receives, the greater the chance of winning as 60 winning clubs will be drawn at random from a national pool of nominations.
Australian basketball legend and five-time Olympian, Andrew Gaze, is encouraging sporting clubs to enter adding: “Involvement in sport, whether it be at a school or club level, provides our kids with important life skills, confidence, and of course exercise. “It’s terrific to see Australian companies like Bakers Delight supporting grassroots sports in our communities, and in doing so, encouraging young people to adopt healthy lifestyle habits,” Andrew concluded.
Hurry in and make a nomination at any Bakers Delight by Wednesday 20th August 2008. Winners will be announced on 13th October 2008. For more information log on to www.bread4health.com.au
