Surfing Queensland Launches Online Payment System
(Gold Coast - Monday 25th August, 2008): Surfing Queensland today launched a revolutionary online payment system that will modernise the public’s ability to access programs and events across the state.
The customised software, designed to cater for the nuances of surfing administration sets parameters on entry numbers, divisions and criteria and within seconds confirms acceptance to the entrant via email. Surfing Queensland Online provides 24-hour access to events, membership, coaching and judging in a simple language for surfers of all ages to access from the comfort of home or work.
Surfing Queensland currently manages over 50 events per year, including two world tour events, high profile specialty events and some of the country’s most popular junior and Pro Junior competitions. It’s anticipated that in its first year the online payment system will handle up to 5000 entries and alleviate an environmentally unfriendly process of lengthy paper trails and manual documentation.
Particularly for popular junior events that seemingly fill at the drop of a hat, the online entry system provides equal opportunities for anyone to get in a draw. Whether participants are holidaying on the other side of the world or simply unable to get to the post office budding surfers can enter and receive immediate confirmation. If an event or division is full, the software is quick to notify the entrant of the status.
Surfing Queensland CEO Andrew Stark says today’s enhanced accessibility is a step in the right direction for the sport of surfing. "Gone are the days of posting your entries or coming into the State Office to pay your membership. The online site makes it easier for people to enter, join or register for anything that is surfing in Queensland. They'll also have more time in the water."
