“Since its inception in 1996 the Active Club Program has provided in excess of $21 million in funding to approximately 5400 successful applicants,” Minister Wright said.
“It is evident that this program has made a significant difference to South Australian active recreation and sport organisations.
Minister Wright is also pleased to announce that funding for the first round of the Active Club Program in 2008/09 is now open.
Under the program, community active recreation and sport clubs can apply for $2.35 million in funding which is provided over two rounds each financial year.
The funding is made available to increase participation, improve services and provide quality facilities throughout the community.
“It is at this community level that everyone can benefit from active recreation and sport opportunities, adding to the quality of life for all South Australians,” Minister Wright said.
“The Active Club Program offers financial assistance to support grassroots organisations to strengthen and sustain active communities. This increases access to quality active recreation and sport activities and facilities.”
“No doubt the call for new applications will see a range of innovative and exciting project proposals put forward.”
